LMQG & Liberty's new quilting fabrics

I'm sooo glad I made it to our September meeting of the LMQG, even though a lie-in after our trip to the Paralympics was tempting. We met at Liberty in London, to see how their new quilting collection, Bloomsbury Gardens, part of their Lifestyle Fabrics, made it from sketch to fabric bolt. It was amazing… seeing how designer Sholto Drumlanrig works (and what a dream job, with 100s, even 1000s of Liberty fabrics lurking in archives, waiting to inspire, be recoloured and rescaled to such glorious effect).

There are five different colour palettes and eleven prints to choose from. The collection was launched at the International Quilt Market in Kansas in May, but you can see the whole range here. Annie, over at The Village Haberdashery has gone for Colourway C to stock, with a fab fat quarter bundle available (something which Liberty would do well to stock, as they tend to only sell per m off the bolt, and I wanted a little taster of rather than a 1m length of one).

Anyway, back to our happy group. Here we are hanging on Sholto's every word (he even gave us a sneak preview of the next collection, due out early 2013, but mum's the word).

Can't wait to see how the collection is used over the coming months. Talking of challenges, next month's is to finish a WIP, so that we can hit 2013 with one quiling project less… mmmm what to go for: do I finish the Post-it Note Quilt or the Flag Baby Quilt? Will keep you posted
